|Features of LEED “Platinum” CMSD Yard
The new Costa Mesa Sanitary District Yard facility at 174 W. Wilson Street, Costa Mesa, has advanced architectural, engineering, and landscape design qualifying the building and site to be "Platinum" certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC.)
The building and site are constructed from local resources that are easily renewed and combines energy efficiency through architectural design and energy efficient systems.
The building and site include the following features:
District officials received confirmation from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in Washington D.C. that the CMSD Yard is certified as Platinum LEED for new construction! This is the highest certification awarded by USGBC for buildings that are highly energy and resource efficient. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, verified that the Yard was designed and built using strategies aimed at energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
