Sharps Disposal Recycling Program

sharps disposal container and syringes The Costa Mesa Sanitary District (CMSD) sponsors sharps disposal and collection at the drop box locations listed below. Sharps include needles, syringes, and lancets.  

Residents can pick up a FREE sharps container at the District's headquarters (one per resident while supplies last) or you can use any rigid (non-puncturable), sealed container to hold sharps. These can include thick plastic laundry detergent, bleach, or coffee containers.

Curbside Collection:

Sharps can be collected curbside through the Door-to-Door Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program.

*CMSD's drop box is closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As an alternative, please utilize the Door-to-Door HHW Collection Program or drop off sharps in proper containers at Ramsay Rexall Drugs or any of the 4 Orange County HHW Collection Centers.
